Five-Axis Linkage
Setting System
The engineering foundation that makes complex 3D diamond wax setting possible at industrial speed and precision.
Beyond 3-Axis:
True Spatial Freedom
Traditional CNC machines operate on 3 axes — X (left/right), Y (front/back), and Z (up/down). This limits them to flat or simple planar operations. For diamond wax setting — which involves curved ring shanks, domed pendants, and complex bracelet designs — 3 axes are insufficient.
The Semsons Tech 5-axis system adds two rotational axes (A and C) to the standard three linear axes. This allows the drilling head and workpiece to approach stones from virtually any angle in 3D space — necessary for the curved wax models that make up the majority of fine jewellery designs.
The result: precise stone placement on curved ring shanks, domed surfaces, undercut geometries, and complex sculptural jewellery forms — all at 9,000–12,000 stones per hour.

Jewellery Designs That Were
Impossible to Automate
Ring Shank Setting
Full 360° circumferential stone setting on ring shanks — curved inside and outside surfaces.
Domed Pendants
Setting on convex and concave dome surfaces where a 3-axis machine cannot approach the correct angle.
Bracelet Links
Setting on interconnected curved bracelet links — requires constant angular adjustment.
Earring Clusters
Tight-cluster pavé on irregular 3D earring shapes with undercut geometry.
Sculptural Pieces
Artistic jewellery with complex freeform surfaces — animal motifs, floral designs, architectural forms.
Flat Pavé
Standard flat pavé setting — rings, pendants, and brooch blanks — at maximum speed.
