Complete Production Workflow
Lost-wax casting jewellery production with automated diamond setting follows a defined sequence. The Semsons Tech machine performs Step 4 — the highest-value, highest-labour step in the chain.
CAD Design
The jewellery piece is designed in 3D CAD software (Matrix, RhinoGold, JewelCAD). Stone positions, sizes, and orientations are specified in the design file. The Semsons Tech-compatible coordinate export is generated at this stage.
Wax Model Production
The CAD file is sent to a 3D wax printer or wax milling machine, producing a physical wax model of the ring, bracelet, or pendant. This is the blank that will receive the stones.
Model Preparation
The wax model is cleaned, inspected, and mounted on the Semsons Tech machine fixture. Stone trays are loaded with the correct sizes and colors. The coordinate file is imported into the proprietary OS.
Automated Diamond Setting
Semsons Tech MachineThe Semsons Tech machine drills each stone seat to the precise depth and diameter, places each stone with the suction nozzle system, and verifies placement via the Intelligent Identification System — all at 9,000–12,000 operations per hour.
Wax Inspection
The set wax model is visually or optically inspected. With the Intelligent ID System's 0.1% rejection rate, this step is rapid and rarely requires rework.
Investment Casting
The set wax model is embedded in investment plaster, heated to burn out the wax (lost-wax process), and molten gold, silver, or platinum is poured into the cavity.
Casting Cleanup
The cast metal piece is cleaned of investment, sprue-cut, and subjected to ultrasonic cleaning. Stones are now permanently set in the metal.
Finishing
Filing, grinding, polishing, rhodium plating (if required), and final quality inspection. The piece is complete.
