Step 1: CAD Design
Modern jewellery production begins with Computer-Aided Design (CAD). Software like Rhinoceros 3D, Matrix, or CounterSketch is used to create precise 3D models of the jewellery design, including the positions and sizes of all stones.
Step 2: Wax Model Production
The CAD model is used to produce a wax model — either through direct wax milling/3D printing, or through rubber mould injection of wax. This wax model is the carrier for diamond setting.
Step 3: Diamond Wax Setting
This is where Semsons Tech automation operates. The machine drills precise holes in the wax model according to the stone placement coordinates, then places each diamond into its hole. The heated tray ensures the wax is at optimal temperature for secure stone seating.
Step 4: Investing and Casting
The diamond-set wax model is encased in investment plaster, which is then heated to burn out the wax (lost-wax process). Molten metal is cast into the resulting cavity, surrounding and securing the diamonds.
